The IADEA Annual Conference – 2019
Welcome to the 2nd Annual Indian Art and Design Educators (IADEA) Conference, 2019!!
The IADEA association is a vibrant professional network of Art Educators from across the country. The Association hosts a number of knowledge sharing events through the year, the largest of which is the annual conference attracting over 200 art educators who collectively impacting over 1,50,000 students in schools across the country. Our goal is to make our events affordable and accessible to Art Educators across the country!
This year, the annual conference was held in Delhi at the India International Centre on October 3rd and 4th and the theme was “Art Integrated Learning”. Recognising that Art is no longer a minor extra-curricular class but one that is connected to and that facilitates a deeper understanding of all other subjects.
The two-day conference included workshops and seminars and was attended by 150 teachers, art educators from 28 cities across India and 12 non-profits working in the art and education domains from across the country as well as a few keynote international speakers. Senior education consultants and experts as well as academic coordinators and school administrators keen to enable a greater integration of art within the school curriculum were also present at the conference. Both global and national experts from the art and education world shared their views and experiential learning on Art Integrated Learning highlighting the need for equal partnerships in teaching and learning rather than a top down didactical approach.
Our 1st Annual Conference saw over 100 art educators participating in the event from schools across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Madurai, Jaipur, Bhopal, Ahmedabad and other cities. The conference was held at the Piramal Art Museum in Lower Parel, Mumbai, on the 15th and 16th of February, 2018.
